Maybe I can help a bit more. Xenon 129 is the daughter of the extinct
Iodine 129. It is the Iodine 129 that has the short halflife of ~ 16
m.y. The ratio of Xenon 129 to Xenon 128 (formed thru the sequence: I
127 + neutron = I 128 - beta particle = Xe 128) is compared to the
primordial ratio and used to determine the time of meteorite formation
based on a standard value (Burjole). I hope this helps because it gets
deeper.
