That would seem probable. ALPA has been requesting observers to check on
the spot for about two weeks now. Spots that dark are very rare. 

It is ironic that there may have been another Jovian impact, and Galileo
didn't see it. You would think that an instrument would at least detect
an EMP. Of course, we (backyard astronomers) didn't see it, either!
