Re: Lagrangian Points



Of the 5 Lagrangian points, L1, L2 and L3 are considered
unstable or quasi-stable because another body could
easily pull it away from these points.  SOHO is at L1 and
needs more or less constant corrections to keep it there.

    L4 and L5 are more stable and if a body is pulled from the
center of either point, the body will osillate and appear to be
orbiting about that point.  This is very apparent with the Trojan
Asteroids at Jupiter's L4 and L5 points, as most are in some motion
about these points.
