Meteorite Price List #2

  From: Michael Cottingham
             mikewren@gilanet.com

My apologies for using the list....I can't seem to get this
out on my normal email program.

Hello everyone,

I bet the big question on your mind is how much is the Portales
going to be? Anyways, I have some really good bargins and I
have some of the Columbus H5....this was my first meteorite
and it was a new find as well.

Remember....any of these meteorites are returnable for any reason!
You can do so within 15 days of arrival. I want you to be happy
with your new meteorite specimen and I will do everything to make
that happen. I believe, that on this price list there are many specimens
that just about any budget can afford. I want to specialize in the
affordable meteorite specimen.....with the occasional exception.

Thanks for taking the time to review this list.

Michael Cottingham

PORTALES, NM...1998 (The tenative classification is H6...with much
work still pending) I believe that the stone portion of this meteorite
is probably an H6, but no research has been done on any major
portion of the metal/stone meteorites from this fall. No metal/stone
meteorites from Portales will be cut up for quite awhile....they are
extremely cool & beautiful. The only pieces from this fall will be
the stone ones(at least for quite awhile). For those of us who
have seen many pieces of this meteorite...we know something
is weird here. The last phone call I had from Portales was from
one of the farmers there....and he wanted $15.00 a gram for
one of his rusted specimens(This one had been discoverd under the

These cards are cool. There is a real photograph
attached to a folding card and a small 1-3 gram
specimen attached to each card. There is plenty
of information about the Imilac specimen and
my expedition to the Atacama. I made these
cards so that people could have a cool meteorite
for as little as possible. The photo is of the
amazing strewn field of the Imilac Pallasite.
Nininger gave me this idea in a dream!

COLUMBUS, NM. H5. Luna County, New Mexico, USA. Found Jan.
27th, 1997. Six small stones toalling 165 grams were found by
Michael Cottingham on a dry lake bed. This was my first new
meteorite. My wife and I were coming back from Odessa, TX.
after searching the Odessa site. We decide to stop and check
out this area(Columbus) because it looked and felt good. I
stopped the truck.....got out walked a bit(5 minutes) and
WOW....there was the first piece. I have searched this area
for over 300 hours now....and still no other specimens.
Others have searched too.....no luck. I believe the 165 grams
may really be all that there is.

The following specimens are fragments that have been
sliced and polished on a side or two. There is some
metal, chondrules and other weathered stuff. These
pieces here are the only ones available in the world.
After these sell......there is no more!
