Meteorite hits house report!

  Hi gang,
Read this in the sci.astro newsgroup yesterday:
Any more info?! I'm doing a news search now....
Not sure if you folks got this since the list has been down, sorry if you
got it already!

"The Tennessean newspaper for June, 17, 1998, had a page one story
describing how an apparent meteorite struck the house of Houston Woods,
6116 Nashua Ave., Nashville, TN, about 9:00 AM Saturday. Houston and
Dolores Woods were home when they heard a loud noise like an explosion
and found a lump of metal in the bed in the master bedroom. The story
quoted Louis Levine, a neighbor who works as collections manager and
programs specialist for the Cumberland Science Museum here in Nashville,
as saying the object appears to be a meteorite and that it will be sent
to the Smithsonian Institution for analysis. The newspaper had a photo
of Mr. Woods holding what appears to be a palm sized iron meteorite."

Regards,
Tom Randall
