A dealer can pay as much as he/she wants but we don't have to buy it and
more importantly the dealer doesn't have to pay the farmer what he/she wants
either. I say let the farmer sit on it. Eventually the farmer WILL lower the
price IF the dealers lay low. We lay low at times hoping to get deals on
pieces, the dealers can work it the same way with the farmers.

   Same answer as above.

True. And as long as the dealers pay outrageous prices to the farmers,
these will mostly sit on shelves, most of us won't be able to afford what
the dealer wants because they payed a HUGE amount for the darn things. The
dealer is going to at least want to break even or hopefully make a few
bucks. Farmers need to be educated at the time of the deal. Some say that
the farmers are smarter today, they've HEARD what people are paying for
meteorites. Well, if the dealers are going to keep paying ENORMOUS sums for
these then we're all in trouble. The price will remain high. Let the farmers
sit on them and they'll eventually crack for a lower price.

This is an interesting thread, we're getting a lot of different viewpoints
on value and reasons why people collect meteorites. As long as folks don't
start to get too riled up I'm enjoying it.

Tom Randall
