Ningqiang

Hello Kevin, Matt, Alex, and List,

LIN Y., KIMURA M. (1998) Anorthite-spinel-rich inclusions in the
Ningqiang carbonaceous chondrite: Genetic links with Type A and C
inclusions (Meteoritics 33-3, 1998, 435-446):

The Ningqiang meteorite is an anomalous carbonaceous chondrite that is
probably related to the oxidized CV3 subtype (Rubin et al., 1988;
Kallemeyn
et al., 1991; Kallemeyn, 1996; Weisberg et al., 1996; Kimura et al.,
1997). It contains abundant amoeboid olivine aggregates (AOAs) with a
significantly higher AOA/chondrule ratio (0.36) (Rubin et al., 1988)
than those in the oxidized CV3 chondrites (0.03-0.23) (McSween, 1977).
Furthermore, Ningqiang is also enriched in aggregational mafic objects
(13.7 vol%), which were probably formed by incipient melting of
fine-grained aggregates at relatively low temperatures in the solar
nebula (Rubin et al., 1988). The abundance of CAIs is lower in Ningqiang
(2.5 vol%) than in the oxidized CV3 chondrites (2.8-9.4 vol%) (McSween,
1977), and most of them are nonmolten (Lin et al., 1996). Of the 123
CAIs found in a systematic study of Ningqiang, only a few (including two
Type B inclusions, two POI inclusions and one Type C inclusion) clearly
crystallized from melts (Lin et al., 1996; Lin and Kimura, 1997c).

WEISBERG M.K. et al. (1998) Fayalitic olivine in CV3 chondrite
matrix and dark inclusions: A nebular origin (MAPS 33-5, 1998, 1087):

The CV3(R) chondrites studied include Efremovka, Leoville, QUE 94546,
and Vigarano. The CV3(OxA) chondrites studied include Allende, Axtell,
ALH 84028, Ningqiang, and QUE 94366. It should be noted, however, that
Ningqiang is an anomalous CV3 chondrite, but its petrologic features are
most similar to those of Allende (Koeberl et al., 1987; Rubin et al.,
1988; Mayeda et al., 1988; Kallemeyn et al., 1991; Kallemeyn, 1996;
Weisberg et al., 1996a; Kimura et al., 1996). The CV3(OxB) chondrites
studied include Bali, Grosnaja, and Kaba. Mokoia may be a breccia
containing both CV3(OxA) and CV3(OxB) components.

Personal note: (R), (OxA), and (OxB)

Round brackets are used here to indicate they are subscripts in the

Bernd
