Not to point out the obvious, but you just contradicted yourself.

Jim Lovell is correct, without handholds you would bounce off. However,
handholds were placed on Gemini 9 because Ed White in the first US spacewalk
noted they were needed. Your statement that there were no handholds on
Gemini 9 is incorrect.
