Hi Bob:
Before we mislead anyone as to my credentials, as
noted above, here are the facts.
I am an amateur astronomer with a long time interest
in meteor science.
I am indeed the coordinator of the AMS Meteor
Spectroscopy Project. See:
http://www.amsmeteors.org/spectro.html
This project has nothing to do with Sandia. I am
however, a station operator of a Sandia All-sky camera
at my observatory in Courtenay, B.C..
This is one part of a small bolide/fireball tracking
network on Vancouver Island and Washington State.
This network has since spread to the Prairie Provinces
in Canada.
I am also an associate member of MIAC. The
comments I made are my own, and are not of the groups
mentioned above.
I am not against meteorite collecting, provided it
is done in a responsible way. By this I mean, that
all new meteorites should be made available to the
professionals for study. I also agree with Rob
McNaught
that the laws of countries where meteorites are found
should be respected.
I have a small collection of my own that I use for
identification purposes.
This collection will be turned over to a university
when I no longer have the interest to look after it.
You can post this message to the meteorite list if
you like.

Best regards: Ed Majden -
