Meteorites have already been turned into a state run enterprise in Canada.
Check out the Tagish lake fiasco. More of Tagish Lake meteorites are at
the bottom of the lake than were recovered. So much for Govt control.

When you buy unknown meteorites from the finder you take your chances, good
or bad. Such is life.
