Failure of the Peary Expedition
NEW YORK, October 1. - Lieutenant Peary' servant, Matt Henderson, and Pro=
f. L.L. Dyche of the Kansas State University, arrived from the Arctic reg=
ions this morning on the steamship Sylvia. Lieutenant Peary and the other=
 members of his party, who left Halifax yesterday by rail, are expected t=
o arrive in New York this evening. Prof. Dyche, while reticent on the det=
ails of the expedition, admitted that it was a failure. He declared that =
Lienteuant Peary had not managed to forge much further north than on his =
previous expedition. He would not give any reason for the failure other t=
han lack of food.
