Hi David and list=0D
=0D
Ok...=0D
Is this about right then:=0D
=0D
3.0 is called "highly unequilibrated". =0D
=0D
3.1 - 3.9 are "just" unequilibrated. =0D
with a diffuse transition from the first to the other ?=0D
=0D
So it is ok to call a 3.8 for unequilibrated i guess.=0D
=0D
Thanks for answering.=0D
=0D
I am happy to have "e-mail friends" like all of you on the list !=0D

Hello Lars,=0D
 =0D
I can add a bit to what has been said, although it may add further=0D
confusion. I know that petrographic type 3 is defined as unequilibrated,=0D
but from what I have read, the subtypes (3.0-3.9) also further divide=0D
this into "unequilibrated" and "highly unequilibrated". The following=0D
paragraph was taken from my website but unfortunately I did not record a=0D
reference.=0D
_______________________________=0D
 =0D
Just as there exists a metamorphic discontinuity in=0D
the SiC content of the ordinary chondrite groups (between=0D
petrologic grades 3.4 and 3.5), the CO group shows a similar=0D
hiatus between petrologic grades 3.0 and 3.1, defining those=0D
members that are highly unequilibrated. =0D
_______________________________=0D
 =0D
So it seems that a different division exists for different meteorite=0D
classes. This is something I'll try to research better.=0D
 =0D
Regards,=0D
