Hello Everyone,

I really enjoyed reading the recent posts from list members relating =
their experiences giving talks in front of kids. One of the nice things =
about the study of meteorites is the interdisciplinary nature of the =
field. Meteoritics ties together diverse fields such as science, =
history, geography, and even art (among others) . So not only would =
science students be interested in a talk about meteorites but you can =
also include and talk about these other aspects as well. For example, =
some of you know that I have a four year old and through meteorites (a =
"known" to her), we are starting to talk about different geographical =
areas of the world (an "unknown" to her). Meteorites can not only help =
students appreciate them for the scientific qualities but they can also =
help in learning about other fields as well.

The book, Cosmic Debris: Meteorites in History by John Burke is a fine =
example of this. It is very difficult to find, but I believe a few list =
members sell this book.
