Dear Joe and List,

It may well be weathering/conversion Joe. However, I would not expect such acute weathering in a Saharan find. In addition I would expect the shiny metal inclusions, which I assume to be high-nickel, to remain in place unaffected within a hematite conversion matrix. I could be wrong on all counts. Has anyone ever seen weathering like this in another find?

Kindest Regards,

Mark
