Well, surely there's NO ONE who would actually prefer the latter choice.
Presenting it as a choice between a real desert meteorite and a fake meteorite
from somewhere else is really not at the heart of the debate.

I think the more balanced debate, if there is one, is between relatively
equal rocks coming from either unknown desert locations with relatively less
find-detail, or from known non-desert locations with relatively more find-details
(or with FALL-details, of course). There are pro's and con's of both sides -
mostly personal preference as far as I'm concerned. Certainly the
comparative affordability of desert rocks is a major consideration to many.
