Paper: Edinburgh Advertiser
City: Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland, United Kingdom
Date: Friday, January 14, 1820
Page: 6 (of 8)

On Saturday morning, about two o'clock, a large and very luminous
meteor passed with amazing rapidity to a snow cloud, which immediately
assumed the appearance of the most brilliant Aurora Borealia. On Sunday
forenoon, a mock sun was distinctly seen for about two hours - portentous,
as we are told, of stormy weather. There has been a good deal of lightning
during the week; and early on Tuesday morning, several peals of thunder were
heard. - Our forefathers believed that "winter thunder brought summer
hunger." However much we may be disposed to hold these saws in reverence, we
hope they will not be realised in the present instance. - Montrose Paper.

(end)

Mark note: Realized is misspelled “realized” in last line. Also “saws” might
be a mistype of original author for “laws”??
