G'day List,

I just received my slice of NWA 3099 (L/LL3) from Stefan and I have to =
say it is one of the best, if the THE best meteorites I have ever seen. =
I've never seen so many different features in one meteorite, let alone =
one slice. Apart from the chondrule metropolis there are many other =
inclusions and/or clasts. In my 11.8g slice I can see:

- Around 1-2 troilite inclusions per sq cm.
- Reasonable amount of visible metallic iron.
- Armoured (with troilite) chondrules.
- Armoured (with metallic iron) chondrules.
- Carbonaceous inclusions?
- Achondritic inclusions/clasts? (the big inclusion looks almost like a =
howardite with dark angular fragments)
- Barred chondrules

What's going on here?!? Maybe someone could also explain how you get an =
LL3 with achondritic type inclusions. Is this even possible? (It has a =
shock rating of 4 too.) There are some links below to scanned images. =
They don't do the piece justice but are better than nothing and are =
fairly large too.

There are more photos also on Stefan's page: =

I would certainly appreciate any opinions on this beauty.

Cheers,

Jeff Kuyken
