LARGE METEOR IN MEXICO
Denver, Col., June 21. - A special to the News from Tucson, Ari., says: T=
he largest meteor ever seen in this part of the country fell between the =
pueblos of Los Molinas and Alter, in Senora, Mexico, on June 11, at 10 o'=
clock in the morning. The meteor was seen by parties in Tucson as it show=
toward the southwest. Although the sun was high, the meteor illuminated =
the sky and seamed to have burst at the horizon. El Progreso, a Spanish p=
aper receiving in Tucson, contains an article describing the shock at Alt=
ar and the terror of the people when the meteor fell. It struck the earth=
about fourty miles from Altar, but the shock there was terrific and the =
people thought it was an earthquake. An exploring party will go out from =
Altar to try and find the place where the meteor fell.

(Mark note: Meteorites A to Z does not show a meteorite having fallen on =
June 11, 1901 in Mexico and having been recovered. It does show an unrela=
ted meteorite that fell June 10, 1901 23:00 in Pakistan).
