Yes, Amgala looks like Zag, but as a man who has sold about 80 kilos of Zag
and 7 kilos of Amgala, there are subtle differences that anyone can see if
they have seen a few pieces of Zag.
Zag has very thick coarse fusion crust, often bumpy and granular.
Amgala has smooth thinner crust, almost never granular. Zag is much more
uniform, large breccia.
Amgala tends to be very small breccia pieces, more black shock veins.
To the trained eye, they look nothing alike and could not be mistaken for
each other.
I was in Morocco last week, I saw some zag, it is horrible, any zag coming
out of Morocco now is rusted all to heck, and look really bad.
Amgala is still there, still clean and many pieces looking like they never
saw rain (which they didn't).
I would be please to examine any suspected piece of either and make the call
for anyone who thinks they were swindled.
I really don't see any scams happening though, I have looked through ebay
and seen nothing out of the ordinary.
