Meteorite Fragment Is Found By Farmer

Denver Scientists Says Many More May Be Picked Up In Parts Of Nebraska

     CRAWFORD. Neb., April 23 - (AP) - Discovery by Russell Locker farmer
south of Glen. of a fourth fragment of meteorite which fell last August 8.
today confirmed Dr. H. H Nininger in his opinion many pieces landed in this
area.
     "Several sections located 10 miles south of Glen and the same distance
east and north of Agate," the curator of meteorites at the Colorado museum
of natural history said, "offer the best field for hunters of fragments.
All large pieces are probably buried and lost."
     Although trained as a biologist, Dr. Nininger said "My hobby for
meteors ran away with me, and now it's a profession." The man who makes his
living chasing meteors has collected 2,000 fragments in the last 11 years.
     Coming here from central Nebraska, where he has been investigating a
meteor fall. Dr. Nininger predicted fragments will be found in northwest
Logan and eastern McPherson counties.
