(Hola list, Zelimir asked me to forward this mail, as he can't come through
since months)

Hi list,

Interesting debate about the number of meteorites related to the "market"
(Martin, I appreciated your clever views).

This question is by no means also more or less directly related to the
actual number of meteorite collectors.

Could someone have a guess about that number?

I realize the question is not so simple and can get tricky as it is not easy
so far to even define who is or is not a "collector".
But perhaps we can come closer to an answer by computing at least the number
of regular meteorite buyers (hunters...?), show visitors...in each
count(r)y, state...?
But also, are all "Meteorite" or "MAPS" subscribers, all meteorite hunters,
dealers...also collectors ?

In Ensisheim we have on the average 1400-1500 visitors for the 2 show days.
How many are true collectors (say those who have at least one meteorite in
collection and are willing to pay 2 euro entrance fee intending to increase
that number) ?
(Eh, could this correspond to the definition of a collector ?)

Someone mentioned in the debate: "1000 collectors"....

How many are we actually ?

Any guesses ?

Or can someone re(de)fine that question ?

(Glad if this post reaches you, as I had many troubles to contact the list
in the recent past...)

Cheers,

Zelimir
