Dear Listees:

This is just a little piece about the local museum in Greenburg,
Kansas, which had long advertised that it had "the world's largest
pallasite on display." Steve and I were up there (laughing to
ourselves) saying they'd have to change their sign now, not actually
thinking that they would. Good for them.

Brochure Change

The Big Well Museum in Greensburg still has an unmatched showcase
attraction, in the world's largest hand-dug well. But another big
attraction at the museum is no longer the biggest of its kind.

The museum had billed its 1,000-pound stony-iron meteorite as the
largest of that type ever found in North America. And it was, until a
meteorite hunter found a 1,430 pound giant in October, in Kiowa County.

Museum manager Richard Stephenson says brochures and other museum
literature will be re-worded, to show that Greensburg's meteorite is
one of the world's largest.
