Hello list,

The Rochester meteorite fell December 21, 1876 over Fulton County, Indiana.
A single stone of 340 grams (~3/4 lb.) was the only stone recovered of this
H6 stone chondrite. The path of this meteor, according to newspaper
records, seems to be very close to that of another H6 chondrite....the
Peekskill, New York Meteorite.

Reports of the Rochester Meteor have it going all the way to New York as
well. Which seems to be a long way for the meteor to continue, while having
a piece fall off in Illinois. The only stone found was small and reports do
note of pieces falling off during the flight and it broke into several
pieces, like Peekskill towards the end of its flight.

I will post more on the meteorite tomorrow....try not to blow up everyone's
mailbox.

Clear Skies,
Mark Bostick
