Hello all,

I heard about Marvin' appointment to the UofA some months ago, and in my opinion, if I might weigh in, is this:

I have known Marvin for many years. In 1996 we went to Imilac, and what a time we had there. (I wish I could do it again.) We found nearly 37 kilos of Imilac meteorites in four days of searching. Then we went out to explore other sites.

Marvin and I have searched before and after this. In my opinion for what ever it is worth is all the power to him.

He has demonstrated to everyone his dedication to the field. He is a true self-educated man. And his interest is a far cry from what he did before he became interested in meteorites sometime in the early 1980's if I am correct.

He was a gold prospector and a plumber. And from what he told me, he came to Arizona in his VW Bus and started with that.

And since then he has educated himself and prospered as a dealer. That he has given up his meteorite dealer status for this position is a credit to him and all.

It is a big responsibility and I for one wish him the best.
