  Hi List:

I have an ordinary chondrite that I cut and in the fusion crust there is metal; some even close to the surface. I thought that since the fusion crust is partial melting of the mineral components, the metal would alter or (at least) melt to some degree.

Does anyone know if this is a common occurrence?

  Much Thanks,

  Greg S.
