[meteorite-list] the ugly weathered chondrite AD? DISGUISED?

Hello Bill, All,
My post was not truly to defned him; I believe that there can be no
good excuse for the way that he uses the list. I do, however, believe
that, regardless of what is written by anyone to this list, that
responses such as those written by a number of list members should not
be condoned for any reason. If someone has a problem with a
listmember, it is their duty to take it off-list if possible, and
contact Art if all else fails. I don't want to hear about how or why
you hate Steve, and furthermore, merely saying that you hate him is a
violation of list policy, worse than what he doesn, because what he
says usually doesn't break one of the 'Eight Golden Rules,' or
whatever you want to call them.

I'll now go through the posts that you sent in your last message, for
your benefit, if not everyone else's.

>>>
[Bill]
I'm not sure why you made this post defending him and I don't have
time to address it point by point. Let's just have a look at rule 1. I
spent maybe 15 minutes finding these. There are dozens if not hundreds
more violations of rule one by SSteve. We've all done it but not to
this endless mindnumbing extent.

1) Posts need to relate -in some way- to meteorites

Hi and good afternoon list.I just want to let everyone know that I just
got my new computer and will be putting my tucson pictures up on my
website for viewing.I'll let you know when I am done.I got a DELL
DIMENSION 3000.It is state of the art computer.

                                            steve arnold.chicago

-Steve is clearly stating that he will get his Tucson pictures up
soon. This message is to notify people that there will be pictures (I
assume related to meteorites, as that tends to be why
meteorite-enthusiasts go to Tucson) on his website in some
semi-ambiguous amount of time. Meteorite related, in some way. Next.

Hello list.I was just informed that someone very famous in the meteorite
world is turning 50 on july 3rd.He is whom every calls,THE MAN!Yes thats
right!BOB HAAG ,the Meteorite Man is turning the big 50.I want to
personally say happy birthday from the guy I bought my first meteorite
from.A 96 gram sikote-alin.Which I still have.Again happy b-day bob.

                            steve arnold,chicago

-> Bob Haag. Meteorite-Man. Sikhote-Alin. Somehow related to
meteorites...next.

11 months from now the BIG 50 for me.But I feel like 25 thank you so
much. And happy birthday dave from chicago.

                                                         steve

-> Context please? He -is- wishing a list member happy 50th
birthday..hardly a true list violation if you ask me, considering all
of the well wishing that goes on around here, from many list-members
to many more list-members. No double standards, please.

Hi and good morning to the list.I just want to thank the people who
continue to support me, despite all the NAYSAYERS out there who continue
to harrass me for no reason except to BITCH about nothing. If I post
something about any of my adds, 20 more will come and harrass me.Thinking
that they are "HURTING" me.But you are not!You are only hurting yourselves
making you all look like ASS'S.And to put it in perspective, like mike
blood said, YOU HAVE A DELETE KEY.I have blocked some 20 emails from
people who have harrassed me for no reason. And like mark said, everything
else has been meteorite related.Tonight I am taking out my lovely wife to
dinner, it is her birthday to day.So after a 9 hour day,I am going to
enjoy a 3 day weekend and enjoy myself.1 week till mazatlan, mexico.Again
thanks to all who support me.

                                          steve

-> You attack him with posts that clearly violate list policies 1 and
2 and he's not entitled to a response? I admit, it would be better
for him to take it off-list, but if you don't, I don't see how you can
hold it against him when he doesn't.

Hello all.I just want to thank everyone who wished me a happy birthday and
good tidings.I, my brother and my nephew went down to the field museum to
see the meteorites down there. What a killer piece of WILAMETTE iron
slice. Also ALLENDE,BRENHAM,HAMLET, and many kansas pieces. It is just an
absolutly beautiful day here in the windy city. The home of the PARK FOREST
meteorite fall.It was 75 degree's and sunny. We also visit the new
MILLENIUM PARK that just opened.I took some great pictures.(I hear I might
be getting a new digital camera)Yeahhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!Oh well I had a great
time, and tomorrow is the KILLER party. It is up to 60 people now.Oh
well.It is the best party/birthday I have ever had.Who says it sucks
getting older?I am just getting better.Already looking forward to TUCSON
2005.Have a great weekend all and I hope a meteorite will fall in your
home town like it did mine.

A good somewhat late evening to all.I just want to give thanks to everyone
who bought items from me during my meteorite sales I had a few weeks
ago.Thru these sales and ebay sales,I was able to sell off more than
$4000.This has made my wife very happy and me.I sold over 1/3 of my
collection (53) specimens. As I saw those pieces fly out of my house,I
cringed and went into meteorite withdrawl. But I knew it was for a very
important cause.I do not even have enough to trade anymore. The 102 pieces
I have left,by no means will these ever be sold, traded,or whatever.I love
this hobby to much to just throw it all away or just leave it.I AM STAYING
PUT.I am adding 2 new pieces to my collection.A 76 gram complete
individual of MILLBBILLILLIE and a 50 gram slice of COLDWATER,KANSAS.Those
are the only 2 new pieces to come into my collection,so it is better
nothing.Well that is all.Just a thanks to everyone involved.I hope
everyone has a great weekend ahead.

                              steve arnold,chicago,usa!!

-> Even if you don't like the public thanks posted to the list for the
buyers of his specimens, there's still this: " 76 gram complete
individual of MILLBBILLILLIE and a 50 gram slice of
COLDWATER,KANSAS.Those are the only 2 new pieces to come into my
collection,so it is better nothing." It's not an add; he's just
bragging about new specimens that he has. Against list policy? No,
it's most certainly meteorite related, and there are no anti-bragging
rules. I think most list-members should be grateful for that...

Good morning list.I have 4 small offerings to let go
of.Sort of a birthday anthem.Another year of
life,pretty good health,thanking god,etc.I like to
give back to those who are not always fortunate like I
have been.I have a micro of NWA 1685,And a 1 gram
fragment of my new NWA 2749,A 4.7 gram gao with
flowlines,and finally a small micro of bassikounou.If
anyone is interested let me know. They can go out
tomorrow as always on me.And since there is so much of
it,I am looking for a nice 15 to 25 gram individual of
HOLBROOK to add to my collection.Let me know off-list.

steve soon to be 53!!

-> Clearly meteorite related, and it's not an add - he's not selling
anything. Sorry to burst your bubble, but there's no list policy that
states that meteorite giveaways must be titled "GIVEAWAY."

Hi list.GREAT news!I will be getting a digital camera for christmas.I
really do not care what type or what kind of camera. All I know is I am
getting it.Just in time for tucson.YYYYYYYYYYAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!

                                        STEVE

-> Hmmm, difficult...I suppose that I'll just defend this post by
saying that there have been fewer off-topic messages in this list that
you've sent me than I recieved earlier that were completely off-topic
bashing Steve. Yeah, he can be annoying. You guys are worse.

2004/12/05 I just found out that I am getting a samsung 4 megapixel
digital camera for christmas.I guess santa will give me coal for
christmas for being a naughty boy for peeking.Hell, digital pictures
are right around the

What the whole meteorite community has been waiting for.My new digital
camera has arrived safely into my house. It is a 4 megapixal by
samsung. Finally new pictures by me.I fired my photo guy. Also concerning my
meteorite sale.It is still 2 for 1, but make me a decent offer and I'll
probably agree with you.Nothing stupid please.I want to get rid of
everything if I can.Let me know.I am going to have fun with this little
guy.YYYYYYYYYAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!

                     MERRY CHRISTMAS ALL FROM COLD,BUT

                                               STEVE ARNOLD
-> I suppose you wanted him to put add in the subject line? This is a
difficult case - on the one hand, it's sort of just saying he has a
new camera, but on the other it's meteorite related and regards a sale
of which he is changing the details. Half add, half not
add...difficult, but certianly meteorite-related.

Good evening list.Wow it is good to be back home after 4 HOT days in las
vegas.I had a real good time.I want to publicly thank sonny clary for
opening up his home to me and showing me his great meteorite
collection.Sonny has found dozens of nevada meteorites with alot of them
in classification. He also had some great arizona finds and califonia ones
as well.I uploaded 2 pages of pictures on my website for you all to see.18
pics in all!For once my camera did not let me down.I got in some great
night shots as we walked from the madaley bay to treasure island. It also
helped I won $1000 in slots that made for an even better time. But again
thanks to sonny and georgia for letting me in thier home to see his great
collection.

-> "I uploaded 2 pages of pictures on my website for you all to see."
Do you have a problem, Bill, with people sharing pictures of
meteorites on the internet or, more specifically, the list? You don't
like Steve's Tucson pictures or his pictures of Sonny's
meteorites....I think you're standing on some very shaky ground there.

Sun, 05 Mar 2006 08:08:51 -0800

Hello again list.My wife and I went to go see 2 movies yesterday. One of
them was EIGHT BELOW.The major theme is about the 8 dogs that get
rescued. But one of the underlying themes is a scientist comes all the way
from australia looking for meteorites in the antartic. He has come down to
find the first meteorite from mercury. It looked like an iron with all the
thumbprinting. So who says a major movie can't have meteorites in it?By the
way,it was a very good movie.

                                                           steve

-> List-member notifying meteorite community that a new movie has
meteorites in it. I'd see it for that...probably go rent it tomorrow
to go check it out - that's unusual.

Hi again list.I saw the war of the worlds tonight. You think if they were
going to invade us,they could have brought some martian rocks to givaway
as momentos.DAMN good movie!

                                                              steve

-> Eh, more space-related than meteorite, but I really wouldn't boot
someone out for commenting on War of The Worlds. It does lie somewhat
within our scope of interest.

Hi list, I hope all is going well for everyone.I am having a good day.I
just saw the new movie,"LOVE ACTUALLY".It was really grand. On any given
weekend I have about 30 emails from the met list.So far as of 4:00 pm
CST,CHICAGO TIME,I have had over 60 just today. And most of them were about
the proud tom site.Well having been put at number #2 behind matteo,I have
completely put this little sophomoric thing WWWWWAAAYYYYYY behind me.One
full day till the new job.For me I have 2 things that drive me ,S***
HAPPENS and SOME THINGS ARE BEST LEFT UNSAID!!This is how I feel about
this proud tom episode.Life is to short,in my case to TALL,to get frazzled
over it.But if certain people want to keep the fires burning, let'em do
it.I have a delete button like everyone else.It is kind of funny to see
the comments that keep coming on the proud tom issue. For some it looks
like LIFE and DEATH!!Well I have always said,IF DEATH IS THE THING WE HAVE
TO FEAR,WHAT ELSE IN LIFE IS THERE TO FEAR???Have a great rest of the
weekend all.I am going to go enjoy my NWA 595.

Proud to be an IMCA member steve arnold, chicago

-> Two things. One: "And most of them were about
the proud tom site.Well having been put at number #2 behind matteo,I have
completely put this little sophomoric thing WWWWWAAAYYYYYY behind me."
I don't know if you were here for the reign of Proud Tom or if it was
before your time. I'd just like to say that anything that happened
on-list while Proud Tom was here is...what happens in Vegas stays in
Vegas, and what was said then, stays then. I think whoever was there
at the time would agree. (I keep my Proud Tom sweatshirt reverently
in my bottom drawer, may it last forever.)
Two: "I am going to go enjoy my NWA 595." Clearly meteorite-related;
as I said earlier, no anti-bragging rules here. Take it up with Art
if you have a problem.

chimed in for thier freebies. They are all on thier

interested. Also when february comes I will not be
going to tucson next year.My wife and I have not had a
vacation this year,so we will be going to
london, england during that time.So I will miss all my
friends. But an over due vacation is really
neccisary. Also I am working on a new website and it
will be chicagometeorites.com.There is nothing on
there yet,but I am working on it.I hope you all have a
great week.I also want to thank the people on this
list who have shown me support.I really appreciate it.

-> Giveaway issue again...as I said, no rule against them, clearly
meterotie-related, and not technically an "Ad," as he's not selling
anything. No policies broken.

Hi again list.I put up some of my vacation pictures up on my website. There
are 2 pages of 12 pics per page.Let me know what you think.I had a blast
taking them.

                                         steve arnold, chicago

-> Meteorite-related? I don't know. The time when Mexico Doug, to
name one amongst many, posted pictures of his Tijuana (?) vacation
comes to mind. All I heard was praise then, not "stick to list policy
and keep it meteorite related."
No double standards with regard to the word or intent of list
policies, I will say it yet again.

For alot of years alot of good people have given thier lives to help keep
our great nation going. They did it because they believed in the cause of
the USA.I never served in any of the armed forces because I could not.I
have a hearing problem in my left ear classifying me 4F.Medically
diqualifying me.I am totally deaf in my left ear.And you know I really
wanted go and serve my country. But instead of getting all upset, I just
did what I could to help out where ever I could.I am really proud of all
men and women who have served and are currently serving all over the
world. My heart also goes out to the poor 19 ITALIAN soldiers who died for
thier country. We are all the same underneath. The only thing that seperates
us from each other is a border and our prejidous. And to me the latter has
no place on any world, no matter where you are.Matteo please do not make
fun of any branch of the service. For people who volunteer and are ready to
give thier lives for our country or any country, to me they are the real
heros.I fully support all our service people wherever they are .And I
continue to volunteer where they need me.To make fun of any service people
is a direct BLOW beneath the belt. All hail the armed forces of the UNITED
STATES OF AMERICA, and god bless them all and come home safe!!!!!!!!!!!

steve arnold, chicago, illinois, usa and proud of it!!

->"Matteo please do not make fun of any branch of the service."
Sounds as though Matteo insulted the US armed forces. If the insult
goes into the list archives forever, should not a defensive statement
go in there as well to prove we aren't all anti-american (and so we
don't all get wire-tapped/bugged to hell without our knowledge ;)
...?

I hope everyone had a great christmas. And I wish everyone a happy new
year. For the leaders in the IMCA,I am wondering if anything has been
done to see why I was sent packing from the IMCA list? I know the
holidays are here and not alot of people are around, just want to
know if someone has looked into it. It has been the only downer from
and otherwise GREAT christmas. To use my popular saying, Let me know.

                                                       steve
arnold,the second proudest member
-> "For the leaders in the IMCA,I am wondering if anything has been
done to see why I was sent packing from the IMCA list?"
If he can't contact someone via the IMCA list, odds are good, I would
think, that he could find them on the meteorite-list. I'm just
guessing, but I would assume that all of those IMCA members - who
haven't been chased away yet by all of this dribble - are still
members of the list. Good idea to use it to get to them in my
opinion.

I think you had two truly list-policy breaking messages there.
I'm almost certain that if I went back, I could find more than that
from you, attacking Steve, or doing whatever else.

Needless to say, I will not spell-check this message, as it's too bloody long.
You made it so, and as such, I'm putting all blame for misspellings on
you. Next time you cut and paste a load of bull like that, make sure
it says what you say it says and don't make me show you how obviously
wrong you were about it...

Just for the hell of it, I'll take on Marcin's last message here as well.

>>>

Dear Jason, I can't agree.

-> Too bad...

> Marcin, All,
> I thought that everyone had to agree to a gentleman's agreement for it
> to work...for that matter, you seem to imply that we kick people off
> of the list for breaking 'gentleman's agreements.'

Yes, becouse like in "normal" life we have here writen 8 laws and also
common law, something that we discuss and want to use to make list better.
In many cases writen law is not more importand than common law.

-> If it's 'common law' you're talking about, take it up with Art. I
don't care to get your grievances regarding another member's posting
whatever he may be posting in my inbox, thank you very much.

> The eight rules that I mentioned are the only rules that matter with
> regard to booting people off of the list. They are the official rules
> of the list, as seen on www.meteoritetimes.com

Steve broke our 8 rules
He not add AD to topic, he frequently LIE to the list saying sorry and next
day doying the same.

-> Thou shalt not lie isn't a list policy. I also don't believe in
god, for whatever that's worth, not that it seems to stop members of
any religion out there ;)
The list policy says that one should put SALE in all posts regarding
such matters. Not "AD."
In general, I believe that this is the one rule that Steve breaks.
But again, you think that all of his posts are worthless, and yet you
still read them, and only get insenced about the fact that he failed
to put SALE in the title.
Come on Marcin, if you don't like his posts, block him, or block posts
wirth "steve, arnold, chicago" in them. Most email services will give
you a filter than can do such a thing...have a look and see if you can
find it.
And if you can't, and it's still frustrating you, go to Art. Don't
tell me about your problems with Steve, because I, and evidently a
good few others on this list, from the emails that I've gotten, don't
give a damn about who you like or don't like on here.

You accept peoples who are lier's ? I dont think soo.

-> Do I like them? No. Do I think that all liars should be banned
from the list?
Well, Marcin, how many people do you think would be left on this list,
if we decided to ban all liars from the list.

Jason I can understand that someone can do something wrong but after second,
third "anger explosion" like this one (mine this time, sorry) even an idiot
can understand that he should change "something". But Steve still learned
NOTHING.

-> I don't care, take it up with Art. Not my problem if you're
pissed. If I cared too, I would contact Art. I'm sure the people who
care do contact him, and I'm sure he takes their opinions into account
and does whatever he does wherever he is.
If it's a problem with Art that you have, well, make your own list.

And as long as there will be peoples who will propose HEALING (press Delete
key) instead of PREVENTION (kick Steve) problem not dissapear.
Other example Matteo-Mike war on list. I personaly like Matteo, but without
him on the list there will be no fight at all.

-> It's a problem because people like Bill, Don, etc, make it a
problem. If they didn't make it a problem, it would simply be an
annoyance. Yes, I don't enjoy his posts as much as I used to, but at
least it's a change from all of the lying that goes on between
dealers, in case you don't see as much as I do. At least he's just a
simple meteorite enthusiast who seems as though he gets a little
over-zealous at times. I admit, I have been on the wrong end of a
deal with him, and as such, I refuse to truly defend what he says. I
do, however, see a clear distinction between what he does and what
would, in essence, be true and blatant breaking of list policies. I
know for a fact that a number of the big names on this list have
cheated other dealers out of things and I know of numerous deals gone
wrong between them thanks to nothing more than greed and a disregard
for their peers. What Steve has done, or at least what I've heard
he's done, is peanuts compared to what a number of those men who you
hold in such high esteem have done over the years. I know what I
know, and I would have to say that whatever wrongs he has committed
are skittles in comparison.

Sorry for my spam. But sometimes I cant hold myself. Anyway my spam ratio is
still like 1 to 1000 in compare to Steve Chicago.

-> I wouldn't say so. His posts aren't aimed at insulting people,
whereas these ones that I've seen on here are.
In my opinion, one of his posts is worth 1/10,000 of one of those that
attacks him. Think what you will, but at least he has benevolent
intentions.

Its also my last email in this case

-> Hopefully mine as well. I see no reason to continue this further
on-list, but as I learned while debating something with...well, you
should remember, it's not necessarily as easy as all that to promise
such things.

This message is now too long for me to spell-check it. I apologize
for any misspellings, but I cannot without putting it all through word
and hashing through Steve's posts (misspelling isn't against list
policy ;) as well as Bill's and Marcin's, not to mention my own.
Eh.
