I wonder if it is a part of the main rotating hub that holds the
chipper knives. The flat rusty side you can see in the one photo
might be the part of the hub where the flat part of the knife blade
rests. Moisture gets in between the two pieces and there ya go,
rust. The ridge that raises up from that rusted area is most likely
the bottom part of the knife blade slot itself. Looks like someone
had a catastrophic failure. Glad it didn't hit someone. Now to
name the object (something other than Bloomington no. 2.) How about
Olathe, or Vermeer iron?
