Dear Steve:

Your question reminds me of something funny that happened to me at the
'08 show.

I took an afternoon off from the showroom and went touring around with
my friend Kim. It was her first gem show and she's a very glamorous,
model type lady. She was all dolled up and looking like she should be
on the cover of "Vogue," so of course I immediately took her to the
seediest part of the show. We went to see an independent group of
Moroccans on Oracle Road and Kim was very taken by the offerings of an
African gentleman who was set up alongside them selling wood carvings,
blankets, drums, etc. Kim picked out a bunch of things for presents
and so on -- about a hundred bucks worth of stuff. The vendor wrapped
them all up very carefully, and with great attention to detail, and
when it came time to pay, Kim pulled out her Visa card and slapped it
on the table. The poor guy was pretty baffled. He hardly spoke any
English, was set up under a tarpaulin in a vacant lot across from the
rundown Executive Inn, and didn't even have electricity. So, no, he
didn't take credit cards. We managed to sort it out with cash in the
end, but it's a good idea to remember that a lot of the smaller,
independent dealers only take cash or checks.

That being said, yes, I accept Visa, MasterCard and Discover so stop
by Room 230 at the InnSuites with your credit cards and we'll happily
max them out for you : )

See you in a few weeks.
