meteor processions are known to travel in a line. If the meteor broke into several pieces, the impact of the first and the explosion it made may have slowed the second piece enough to to cause a large amount to be found in a small area and create the starburst pattern. Following the rays of the pattern may be a way to find more large pieces further away from the crater. Shooting buckshot at a steel plate sometimes causes starburst rays and i suspect it happens when a second piece of shot it torn apart by the impact of the first. Which also lets small pieces survive intact without vaporizing. Just my thoughts. cheers Steve
