?
Friends,
?
a brand new February 2011 issue of METEORITE just arrived at the doorstep. ?Good
stuff?, as a friend of mine says, and excellently put together by the editors
Derek Sears and Robert Beauford.
?
Of the many brilliant and entertaining contributions I may point your attention
to the article on The Remarkable and Primitive NWA 5717 by our esteemed list
member Darryl Pitt. Not only does the text include a thorough description of the
most intriguing lithology and petrography of this super rare type 3.05
chondrite, but also contains breathtaking macro and electron microscopy photos
of the exterior and special features of this meteorite.
?
I still haven't read the Tale of Bonita Springs H5, the 'Meteorite under the
Mango Tree' by Kevin Kichinka, but looking forward to do so.
?
Hats off to the editors and authors of this issue.
?
Cheers
?
Svend

P.S.: Concerning the current OT-discussion I may add that my thoughts and
prayers are with the Japanese people. While mourning the deaths of perhaps as
much as ten thousand souls from the initial quake and subsequent tsunami, and
with a previously densely populated coast now totally devastated, leaving
hundred thousands homeless, it appears comprehensible that some consider the
current reduction of the disaster on Fukushima in western media and politics as
out of proportion.
