Ok I sent out a few letters to the officials at the museum, hopefully this will do some good. I am aware that Facebook may not be the best outlet to launch complaints, BUT I figured it might be helpful, because the public can view posts and be aware of their lack of a meteorite display, thus possibly applying a bit more pressure. Dave, lets make no mistake about it, there is NO meteorite display at the Carnegie Museum of Nat. Hist.... Also I went thru the entire Hillman Hall of Mineral and Gems display, and NOT one single meteorite. (not even tucked in there w/ the gems and minerals) I know this as fact, as I was just there on Friday, and spoke with several employees, two of whom stated there hasn't been a meteorite on display there for ten years! I have heard possibly they may have some on display at the Carnegie Science Center, but wont be checkin that out for another week or so. Also, they do not have samples from all eight of the PA finds...I wish
they did, but they only have a few of them. I do agree, Dave, that the Dino exhibit is very fine indeed! So now our Pittsburgh count on this list is up to three? Maybe more that Im unaware of, but its nice to see others on here from my neck of the woods.I was hoping to get some support from fellow mete folks on Facebook, ( I put a post on the "meteorite hunting" page, and one on The Carnegie Museum of Natural History's page) being as how it is right out there in the public eye, but oh well, none forthcoming I guess...thanks guys!
