The transit of NEA 4179 Toutatis on Dec 12 will occur at a closest distance of
18 LD, meaning it will not come closer as ~ 6,919,218 km, leaving very little
chances for Earth to snatch any debris. But there will be several closer fly-bys
by other NEA in November and early December.
For example, just yesterday 2012 VD5 raced past us, just 1.5 LD away ?
Spaceweather.com keeps track of NEA transits, a very recommendable resource by
the way ...
