Hi Listees,

A couple of List members and myself used to have periodic contests to
win free meteorites. I have not seen any of these contests in a long
time. Last night, I went through my micromount drawer to reconcile my
inventory and I ran across a few stray micros. These are not
substantial enough to sell, so I am going to give them away. :)

Here are the micros that are up for grabs :

D'Orbigny (angrite) - a few tiny Bessey specks.

Chelyabinsk (shockwave glass) - I received a large shard of glass,
which I whacked with a hammer to break it down into smaller pieces I
could resell. Some of the shards are very tiny and almost
powder-like. I will collect these into a gelatin capsule.

KT-Boundary - I broke down a large piece of KT-boundary material and
some of it is very fine in consistency, like sand. I will collect
this into a capsule.

Katol (L6) - fine sand-like particles.

Uruacu (iron shale) - fine shale particles.

NWA 528 (H4) - fine sand-like particles.

How do you win these free micros? Be the first person to reply to the
List with the correct answers to the following meteorite trivia
questions. Do not email the answers directly to me, please post your
answer to the List (using "Reply All" is OK).

1) There is only one ungrouped type-1 carbonaceous chondrite. What is it?

2) What was the year, make, and model of the car struck by the
Peekskill meteorite?

3) Which Pope received a piece of the Ensisheim meteorite?

4) A new mineral was discovered in a meteorite that was originally
found in Morocco in 1934. What is the mineral?

5) Who discovered the Almahata Sitta meteorite while it was still in space?

Bonus Question (answer this one and get an extra micromount of my
choice) : What meteorite was thought (by the local finders) to contain
a cure for AIDS?

I will announce the winner as soon as I receive the winning reply.

Good luck!

MikeG
