Hi,

Meteorites have finally hit the big time as it regards at least one measure: CHRISTIE'S, the largest and most esteemed auction house in the world, will be conducting its first dedicated catalog auction of Meteorites on Wednesday, April 20th in South Kensington, London.

The catalog looks smart <--- (had to throw in a Briticism) and it most certainly is, as Alan Rubin had a hand in the creation of the descriptive copy. The images by and large are not so bad as well.

To see a PDF copy of the catalog, go to the following link and click on the e-catalogue option, and you will see the PDF option

There are close to 80 meteorites in the sale. Several have no reserve. Many have museum provenance. The Zagami main mass?it's here. As is the only "starstruck" lunar specimen....

Academy Award winning actor Kevin Spacey (L.A. Confidential, American Beauty) had a piece of the Moon in his pocket as he sang ?Fly Me to the Moon? on November 9, 2014 at the Thelonious Monk Institute?s ?All-Star Gala Concert: A Tribute to President Bill Clinton? at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles. Twenty-two other luminaries touched this same piece of the Moon that evening and signed their names to a document that states, ?I touched the Moon at the Thelonious Monk Institute of Jazz All Star Jazz Salute to Bill Clinton.? Signatories include Herbie Hancock, Pharell Williams, Goldie Hawn, Don Cheadle, Dianne Reeves and Quincy Jones?and, of course, Mr. Spacey. (President Clinton's secret service detail wouldn't allow him to touch it?which was rather odd in the scheme of things.) The winning bidder receives the Moon touched by the stars as well as the documentation. 100% of the proceeds from the sale of this lot will benefit the Thelonious Monk Institute of Jazz, the world?s largest non-profit devoted to nurt
uring excellence in jazz.

All the best / Darryl
