RE: Jilin - Esquel - Hoba

Hello List,
The smallest iron may be the Tacoma iron. The main mass was on display (for
one day only) at the U.W. Burke Museum a week ago -- on loan from John
Wasson, UCLA. This was a show of all the known Washington State USA
meteorites with the exception of Colton (too friable for the Smithsonian to
loan) and the Washougal (temporarily lost). The Tacoma iron was about the
size of a marble and it took a magnifying glass to see the fine
widmanstatten pattern on the etched and polished cut surface. It was
dwarfed by the nearby Waterville and Withrow irons which were also on
display.
