  At the Midewst Space Development Conference in 1997,
a number of us were worried that Phobos and Deimos an
most asteroids would be so heavily gardened by small
(millimetermeteorites) that a lander would get
swallowed in meters of fairycastle structure. NEAR's
landing demonstrated that this was not so, and then
Jeff Bell's thesis that the Yarkovsky Effect would
remove most of these gardening impactors from the
solar system made sense of it all.
