Hi Eric,

There are several meteorites which were recovered following a trajectory
reconstruction for a fireball. Photographically, this has been done for Lost
City, and Innisfree. From visual clues, there are a number more. Treysa
(iron, Germany, 3 April 1916) might have been one of the earliest, it was
found after the impact position was calculated by the famous Alfred Wegener
(of plate tectonics fame) from visual sightings of the fireball.

Subject: [meteorite-list] Bolides tracked to ground

Hi List Members,

inspired from the bolide over Bavaria, I have asked myself which meteorites
have been recovered due to the observation of the corresponding bolide. I
personally think to remember Lost City, but I am not sure.

It looks like a possible meteorite could have fallen in the northern Alps
(sonic booms were heard in this area), but the area is VERY rugged.

Clear Skies

Eric
