Hello all,

I believe the subject of desert varnish came up last week. Coincidently, I
just received my copy of Geotimes which contains an article on the subject.

The bottom line, from their article, is: "... when he and his colleagues
analyzed the black, desert varnish from rocks in the Mojave Desert, they
discovered three different kinds of D-amino acids that suggest the varnish
is of biological origin. "
