Dear Fellow Meteorite Collectors,
The materials that you are contemplating using are made here in =
Minnesota for the exclusive purpose of stopping corrosion in metals both =
ferric and non-ferric.
It is done by coating a surface with a monomolecular layer of a =
Ionic Vapor Corrosion Inhibitor it prevents galvanic action which is the =
polarization of the metals surface in a corrosive vapor environment. =
Corrosive chemicals carried by air and water migrate into the =
microstructure of the meteorite causing migratory corrosion, the =
chlorides and their association with the metals are the culprits.
Protection can be provided several ways. Direct application of =
propriority chemicals that adhere to the substrate. Vapor in a unseen =
gas form that will come from an emitter, held in foam plastic, low and =
high density polyolefin film, a cloth wipe such as found in the gun =
shop. I have these in inventory should there be interest on your part. =
IF used correctly all these will give you years of rust free meteorites. =

I will be at Tucson again in February at the Vagabond Motel in the =
ballroom, a free clinic is offered and I'm in the Paleo Bond booth. Cell =
# 612-840-7139.

  Hi Tom
These products work well if in a confined area, say a glass fronted =
display, or the like. I can see no reason it would cause harm to the =
meteorites other than a film of protectant that the excess, if any =
forms, can be easily wiped off with a good cloth.
I can't vouch for how it would do with some of the styrene/acrylic =
cases that many meteorites are stored in. Styrene is crazed by just =
regular alcohol, so maybe asking the dealer if he's used it around light =
guage plastics and such might be a great first step and writing the =
manufacturer couldn't hurt either. Sure is something to think about, =
especially with the way those nantans rust.

Hello List, I saw this product for the first time today at a gun =
store. I would like the list's opionion on if it is worth trying on =
meteorites? Please let me know. : )=20
