Asteroid belt found round distant star

"(Charles) Beichman and his colleagues used an
infrared
spectrograph aboard Nasa's space telescope Spitzer
to look at 85 sun-like stars. Only HD69830 showed
a thick disk of warm dust in the inner section of
the star system. The guess is that every 1,000 years
or so, two asteroids in the belt collide and pulverise

each other."
