Re: Lagrangian Points

Hello Ed, Doug, Piper, Jim and list,

What is clear: that the nature of L points, whose basis for existence is
dependent on the physics of rotating bodies- that is the point where there is a
balance between centrifugal force and the gravitational pull , does include the
possibility of trapping matter of very low velocity (like space junk).
What is also clear: that the corresponding curved nature of rotating spheres
would make any trap unstable.

What is not clear: when one factors in the additional constant motion of
revolution around the sun, how any such trap could exist at all since the relative
positions of any two or more spheres is ever-changing, presumably preventing any
such trap from forming. Can anyone help me merge the concepts of rotation and
revolution to include a trap?

Best regards,
Julia
