     Couldn't find the story at the URL given below, but I found mention of 
     the "New Mexico (Portales) fall" at the bottom of this web page:

     Thank you for your post, Linda.  I spent the whole time that the 
     Mailing List was down trying to find this very same information.  No 
     sooner did the List come back up, there was the info' that I was 
     seeking.

Saw it on the local news this morning - including a shot of the spot where 
it landed (nice flat sand).  Just found it on this page, it will give
you several recent meteorite stories.
