New Campos

Here is my thoughts on the new Campo issue.

First of all I don't think the phrase "flooding the market is accurate".
The only "new" campos listed for sale at the present time are on my website
and Mike Farmer's website. They are the same Campos on both websites as we
went together and picked the cream of the crop on a recent shipment into
this country. We bought them from the source.

They are selling very well and those who have bought them are extremely
happy to get such a Killer display piece for 1/2 the cost of Gibeon. In my
opinion, they resemble Sikhote-alin more than they do Gibeon. Having said
that, I feel that the only reason that they are as cheap as they are is
because of the stigma that the Campo name has. I would love to call them
something else. They would be worth twice as much.

I have looked at a lot of them and although I did not have them tested at a
lab, I do believe that they are Campos that have not been subjected to the
rusting that the original find was. These have come from the side of a hill
and are burried deep. They have not been laying in water all these years
like the original find.

My impressions come from numerous discussions with the supplier and visual
inspection of many kilos. I was in Denver when they were unpacked and sold
like hotcakes. I was in Tucson last month when they were picked up in
Customs and Mike Farmer and I went through them. Call them what you will
but the fact remains that they are unbelievable specimens. Get them now
while you still can.

I have a question regarding these new thumbprinted Campos that are flooding
the market. Have any of them ever been tested and confirmed to be paired
with
Campo or is it just assumed that they are because they were found so close
to
the Campo strewnfield? Given the huge difference in appearance between the
two i think it may be possible that they are two separate falls and not
related at all. I would be interested to hear someone else's opinion on
this.
