Re: Salaices, Mexico

Hi Michael, Mark, Darryl and list,

If there is a problem with oil retention, leaving dark areas in the
meteorite,
wouldn't heating the meteorite after oil and kitty litter application
either do one of two things: If a large amount of oil is left
(relative) causing the darkness, wouldn't it liquefy and go to the
bottom of the stone, where another application of kitty litter could be
locally applied? (Preferrably you would position the meteorite with the
easiest side to work with as the bottom.) And if it's a small amount of
oil, the heating could dry it out as as it does with water, probably
taking longer. Just a guess.

Best regards,
Julia
